Game 3 of the Madison Roller Derby home season was a big one. These gamed decided the final seeding positions of the teams for semi-finals. Vaudeville Vixens, 134 vs Unholy Rollers, 340
The 1-1 Vaudeville Vixens faced off against the undefeated Unholy Rollers. The Unholy Rollers quickly asserted their dominance when in the 3rd jam of the night, Shananaguns picked up 26 points to the Vixen’s 8. The Unholies would also go on to grab lead jammer in 9 of the next 10 jams. During that time, jammer penalties played a role in the happenings on the track. Over a stretch of five jams, both teams had opportunities to start with a power jam. It was the Unholy Rollers who capitalized on those opportunities and went on a 64-8 run. The dominant scoring didn’t stop there though. In back to back to back jams, Gingah Snap picked up 16 points, Tango de Muerte picked up 20, and Gertrude Awakening picked up 19 while their blockers in front held the Vixens scoreless. The half ended with the Unholy rollers with the commanding 187-49 lead. In the second half, the Vixens changed their jammer rotation and inserted Jostlin’ Hell and LaMarche Madness into their rotation. The Unholy Rollers’ blockers were ready and continued to make life difficult for the Vixens’ jammers. In the 4th jam, the Unholy’s jammer went to the penalty box on two separate penalties yet the Unholy’s blockers – Hell Woods, *Kel*Fire*Warrior*, The Manipulator, and Goldman Smacks held the Vixens to only 4 points in that jam. It was in the 9th jam of the half that the Vixens would put up their highest scoring jam of the night with 16 points from LaMarche Madness. The Vixens would also get some strong play from their blockers in the 12thjam of the half. Vixen blockers Bonnie Riot, DieAFram, Slam Chowdah, and Hoppe Go Lucky held the Unholy Rollers to just 2 points. And in the 18th jam those same Vixen’s blockers held the Unholies scoreless. At the end of the night, the Unholies were just too much for the Vixens as the Vixens fell to the Unholies, 134-340. Quad Squad, 238 vs The Reservoir Dolls, 97 For the final game of the night, the 1-1 Quad Squad took on the 0-2 Reservoir Dolls. The Quad Squad jammers picked up lead in 6 of the first 7 jams and played keep-away with the Res Dolls limiting their ability to score. After 7 jams, the Quad Squad had a 38-7 lead. The Reservoir Dolls weren’t going down without a fight, however. In the 9th jam, foster skater Riotchu picked up 12 points while her blockers held the Quad Squad jammer scoreless. The Reservoir Dolls were back in this one, 39-22. The Quad Squad responded and showed that they could post the big numbers, too. Hammer Abby picked up 17 in the 11th jam with a little offensive help from teammate Allie Gator. In the 15th, Quad Squad jammer Darkhorse had the biggest jam of the half grabbing 24 unanswered points. In the next jam, Hammer Abby wowed the crowd with not one but two apex jumps and another 12 points! At the half, The Quad Squad had built up a 136-51 lead. In the second half, it was back to being a game of keep-away as Quad Squad jammers dominated off the jam line then calling the jam before the Reservoir Dolls could score. In the 7th jam, with two of their blockers in the penalty box, Quad Squad Blockers Crystal Ice and Battle Frog were able to hold the Reservoir Dolls jammer in the pack as they waited for their friends to return. In the meantime, Quad Squad Jammer Pied Typer was through the pack 4 times grabbing lead and another 12 unanswered points. Steadily the Quad Squad built on their lead but the Reservoir Dolls jammers consistently forced the call-off limiting the points that the Quad Squad would put up with each jam. The game ended with Quad Squad on top, 238 – 97.
